Seville oranges have such a short season that I can never resist buying them when they come into the shops in January. It’s so easy to get engrossed in the painting but I did manage to make marmalade as well as this painting.
Did you know another name for Heleniums is sneezeweed? The flowers used to be ground up to make snuff. I made this painting on one of the hottest days this summer, as they were the only flowers that survived the drought in our garden. It is available from Russell Gallery Tel 0208 780 5228
