Did you know another name for Heleniums is sneezeweed? The flowers used to be ground up to make snuff. I made this painting on one of the hottest days this summer, as they were the only flowers that survived the drought in our garden. I am delighted that this painting of Choggia Beets has been awarded the Dry Red Press award at the ROI Exhibtion at the Mall Galleries. It will be made in to a greetings card.
